The Oscar for best science in a movie goes to…

Over at his StarTalk YouTube account, Neil deGrasse Tyson has very entertaining analysis of the levels of scientific accuracy in some of the most well known science fiction movies of the past 75 years. While I don’t necessarily agree with some of his grades, I do find his reasoning very interesting and thought provoking nevertheless.

And it’s good to know that one of my favorite movies, The Martian, is the most scientifically accurate film he’s ever seen. Let’s hope that’s the case when the next Andy Weir books are made into films. His books, while dramatic and intense, also serve as vehicles for scientific nerd-outs.
